Government Funding

What is Government Funding ?

Government funding is a subsidy: money from federal or state schemes goes to the RTO or TAFE to cover some or all tuition costs, while students may still pay smaller charges like materials or admin fees. These schemes are targeted at priority industries and skill‑shortage areas, so the funded course list is limited and varies by state.

SECTION: ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Understanding Your Eligibility:

Eligibility for government funded courses differs from scheme to scheme and is often based on:

  • Your citizenship status (Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, or international student eligibility)
  • Whether you've studied before and what qualification you obtained
  • Your age and employment status
  • Your residency and state location
  • Your industry and career pathway goals

Important: Even if you're not eligible for one scheme, make sure to check the criteria of other schemes available in your state — you may be eligible for one of those. Each scheme targets different groups of people, so there's likely a funding option suitable for your specific circumstances.
